Abundant Life Academy Challenge Camp

Abundant Life Academy – Family Restoration Camp

The Abundant Life Academy Family Restoration Camp is a 2-day event designed to restore the child to his/her family.  This program is for the parent.  This segment starts on Saturday and continues on Sunday (the student helping teens improve their livesportion of the ALA Challenge Camp begins Friday night and is completed by Sunday afternoon)
Prior to the participating in the Family Restoration camp the parent is encouraged to complete the Family Restoration curriculum.  Meaning, prior to coming to the Family Restoration Camp the parents will be introduced to “Personality Insight’s” DISC Assessment, “6 Second’s” Emotional Intelligence, and the “Arbinger Institute’s” Leadership and Self-deception.  In addition, the parents will be introduced to the parent training program best known as “Love and Logic”, as well as “The 5 Love Languages”.  This curriculum can be found simply by clicking here.

The Family Restoration Camp is designed to relieve the immediate tension between the student and his/her parents.  Moreover, it is designed to build a platform for future effective communication.  Before any restoration can occur students and their parents must be able to “hear” each other.  They need to be able to communicate.  Before a parent can correct or teach their child, they must have a relationship.  As parents of troubled teens know all to well, there is no relationship during the rebellious upheaval.
Unfortunately, way too many teenagers believe that there is an equal relationship between themselves and their parents.  They live in a fantasy-based world where they think that all the basic needs will be met regardless of how they treat their parents.  Essentially, they don’t understand the system of authority.  Due to the breakdown in the chain of command (defying parental authority) the student undermines his/her future without even realizing it.  help for teensBasically, the immature teenager “wants what he wants when he wants it!”.  In getting what he/she wants, he/she loses it all.

During the Family Restoration Camp our goal is to restore the parental authority and help the young person realize that his/her eventual freedom and independence will be found through submission to the authority, not in fighting against it.  Our goal is to see the student willingly submit to his/her parents authority and to gain trust, respect, and liberty by investing into his/her life and future.  The truth is that very few teens are equipped to make it on their own, and without their parent’s love and support they wont make it without suffering severe consequences that can last a lifetime.  The Family Restoration Camp is a wake up call for the child and the parent.
